SB 2278    RELATING TO CAPTIVE INSURANCE                      CPC
SD 1       Allows conversion or merger of captive insurers;
SSCR 2501  provides procedures and requirements for conversion or
        merger.

SB 3192    RELATING TO CAPTIVE INSURANCE                      CPC
SD 1       Establishes a new category of captive insurance
SSCR 2510  company for reinsurers and excess insurers.  Clarifies
        financial reporting requirements for all categories of
        captives and the laws applicable to class 5 companies.

SB 3190    RELATING TO CAPTIVE INSURANCE                      CPC
SD 1       Permits captive insurance companies to sell personal
SSCR 2509  motor vehicle  and  homeowners'  insurance on vehicles
        and property located outside of the State.  Authorizes
        and implements  the  regulation  of  captive insurance
        company branches.

SB 2562    RELATING TO INSURANCE                              CPC
SD 1       Reorganizes provisions relating to the confidentiality
SSCR 2656  of   nonpublic   information   of   captive  insurers.
        Clarifies financial statement requirements.

SB 2205    RELATING TO NONPROFIT CORPORATIONS                 CPC
SD 1       Requires a nonprofit corporation that is a private
SSCR 2653  foundation to conform to certain Internal Revenue Code
        provisions to maintain its tax exempt status.

SB 2292    RELATING TO INSURANCE CODE                         CPC
SD 1       Clarifies federal statutory citation in HRS that
SSCR 2688  requires  group  and  individual  health  insurance to
        comply with the  federal  Health Insurance Portability
        Act of 1996.

 
SB 2293    RELATING TO INSURANCE                              CPC
SSCR 2429  Deems a request for  approval granted if the insurance
        commissioner takes  no  action  on  the request within
        thirty days. Eliminates the public hearing requirement
        for workers' compensation rate filings.

SB 2815    RELATING TO INSURANCE                              CPC
SD 1       Requires persons convicted of felony offenses to seek
SSCR 2624  the Insurance  Commissioner's  written  consent before
        engaging in the business of insurance.

SB 2818    RELATING TO INSURANCE                              CPC
SD 1       Regulates viatical settlements and prohibits their use
SSCR 2745  in the case of life insurance policies held on persons
        with catastrophic or life threatening illnesses.

SB 2819    RELATING TO INSURANCE                              CPC
SD 1       Establishes standards for life insurance policy
SSCR 2508  illustrations  and   for   the   replacement  of  life
        insurance and  annuities.    Requires consumer notices
        and  disclosures  to   be   provided  in  writing  and
        transmitted through non-electronic means.

SB 2304    RELATING TO THE MOTOR CARRIER LAW                  CPC
SD 1       Requires the public utilities commission to render
SSCR 2505  decisions on  motions  for  either  reconsideration or
        rehearing within 45 days.

SB 2826    RELATING TO EXEMPTIONS FOR PSYCHOLOGIST LICENSURE  CPC
SD 1       Clarifies that licensees from other professions are
SSCR 2573  able to  perform  "psychotherapy"  of  the  service is
        within  the   scope   of   practice   defined  in  the
        professions' laws or rules.
